The Story

About

First Baptist Church Fort Erie was started by European refugees.  During World War 2, the European refugees held their first meeting on May 31, 1942, with 14 people!

Did you know that the focus of the church in those early days was missions? Dr. J.E. Graham, a missionary to China, spoke at the early meetings and the focus and strength of the church was a missional heart!

The church building started as a renovated store (1943).  Our church family has sought to use building(s) to advance God’s ministry in faith driven ways.  For example, the church parsonage was used as a shelter for refugees.  The church also helped launch the Matthew House Ministry at the turn of the century.

Our church mission says, "We are inspired to follow Jesus by loving God and loving all people."  That means two things.

First, we are a church about loving Jesus!  We believe Jesus is who he says he is.  He is the Son of God who died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead to provide us measureless grace, hope and love!  We pray that you may get to know Jesus more and more in a relational way as you journey with us!

The second thing that characterises our church is our desire to love all people.  Every person who walks through our church doors is important to us!  We have 17+ countries represented in our church and we love young to elderly people.  We want to grow and journey with each person.  We don't want anyone to feel "invisible."

That's us in a simple nutshell.  Join us and I think you'll witness first hand how God's love and people's support transforms lives.
